Why does my Superuniti keep turning itself on?

Posted by: Drewy on 13 July 2015

Hi all.

I signed up to the forum many months ago but this is my first post.

i have a Superuniti bought new last October and a couple of weeks ago I finally got round to doing the firmware update which I finally achieved with much frustration along the way. Since then it has been turning itself on totally at random. We often come home and find it happily paying music to itself and just now I was sat having my meal and on it came. It plays whatever iradio station we used last.

I'm wondering if anyone else has had this happen and what was done to stop it apart from turning it right off. I made sure yesterday that all the apps running on any ipods, phones and iPads in the house were shut down to eliminate that.

regards

Matt

I did think this was something that the 4.3 firmware was supposed to address. What version did you update to? It was a known bug in the previous version.

I found it easy to avoid by just selecting a different source to turn iradio off, rather than pressing stop.

4.3 is the only update since mine was new I think and that is what I updated it to. After I'd figured out how to do it with my Mac it went without a hitch. Kind of wish I'd left it as it was now as it was working faultlessly and I'm not really interested in spotify anyway. I just did it because I thought I should.

thanks for the reply.

Please double-check your streamer firmware version via the front panel menu. As Dave says, just select another input after using iRadio until more is known.

Result (sort of). It's showing its on version 4.1. Don't know why as I was sure I'd done it right but I'm no computer expert and updating firmware on these things is no simple task in my point of view.

i will update to 4.3 this week when I get some time and report back.

thanks again for the replies.

Naim Audio ghosts most likely...search for "ghost" in the forums...but I warned you...

I'm convinced of paranormal activities in Naim digital gear...

This is probably not related ... But I have found if you use a third party control points they can cause playback to be initiated unexpectedly.

in my situation I sometimes use BubbleUPnPServer to create a OpenHome proxy to use Linn Kazoo or Lumin app and if you don't clear the playlist ghosts get into my UnitiQute.

i just put mine on 'usb/front' input to avoid the iRadio ghosts....
