Streaming via ND5XS and UnitiQute

Posted by: Pete the painter on 21 July 2015

I'm afraid I'm in need of assistance (again). Recently added a UnitiQute to my existing network, which now includes ND5XS, UnitiQute, Unitiserve and Mu-so. Have been streaming from the ND5XS to the Mu-so for some time now with only the odd problem. However since adding the UnitiQute the ND5XS and UnitiQute will not communicate, both find the Mu-so and my Unitiserve but won't connect to each other, and on the odd occasion they have connected in won't stick and one disappears. My network is hardwired and working, it's also been tested to confirm all is ok and I've even entered them manually. Sometimes they don't even appear in the app.

While I'm willing to expect that it may be user error it really shouldn't be that hard. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

Cheers

What are the firmware versions on your streamers?

Recent thread with a chap and a Qute having issues with Qute not being discoverable on the network.  Root cause was old firmware.

Pete, when you say that you've been "streaming from the ND5XS to the Mu-so," do you mean that you are using Naim's "multi-room" feature??  That's my first question!  Because otherwise, those two players do not stream to anything (or to another player).

But maybe your issue is with the multi-room feature (??) where you want to play the same music on each player at the same time (??).

If they are 24/192 units on the latest firmware then *EITHER * the ND5XS or the Qute can be used as multiroom master devices. The Mu-so will be a multiroom slave only and if the Qute is a 24/96 unit on latest code then it would be a multiroom slave only.

What firmware is the Qute on?

Is it a 24/192 Qute or a 24/96 Qute?

What is reported under Tools -> Factory Settings -> System Status for "Version" and "BC SW" on the Qute itself?

Phil

Hi yes, it's seems this maybe the problem. However it has worked (streamed) to all 3 locations but it won't stick.

Bart, yes I'm using the Multiroom. Both the ND5XS and UnitiQute will stream to the Mu-so, they just won't talk to each other (although the have once or twice but as stated before it won't stick). I've been assured that all firmware is current, but will investigate further.

Phil, it does seem like a firmware issue but both will stream to the Mu-so. I will go back to my dealer re firmware as this sounds like the cause (I hope). Cheers.

It's easy to check the firmware versions from either the app or the settings menu on the streamers.

It is also pretty straightforward to do firmware updates at home if you are on old versions.

All sorted thanks to my local dealer and Chris Murphy (N A Distributors) . It appears my Telco generic router was the issue, now steaming to all 3 zones from both the UnitiQute and ND5XS. Bliss.

The app Net Analyzer was a big help (thanks Phil Harris) finding out where the problem was, would highly recommend to anyone who's having trouble or even better is trying avoid problems.

Thank you for all your help, and yes it was user error (again). Cheers.
