Mu-So Gapless playback problem

Posted by: Paul Donovan65 on 31 July 2015

Hi

I hope somebody can help. I have recently purchased a Mu-So and am loving it but my only problem is when I play albums like dark side of the moon where gaps in tracks can be irriatiing. I've looked everywhere for the Gapless option but can't find it. My server is a Qnap with Twonky Media

I would be grateful for any responses

Simple answer to that one.  Muso does not support gapless, so you cannot address it at the server end. Hopefully something Naim are working on for a future firmware release.

I was was surprised to discover this as well when I got mine.   Hope it does not spoil your enjoyment too much.

Regards

Your best bet is to use something like dBpoweramp to join all the tracks up into one track (or perhaps more correctly two tracks corresponding to the two sides of the album). You could give this album a slightly different name - DSOTM (gapless) say, which would mean you would still be able to keep the "gappy" album for when you wanted to play individual tracks.

This is interesting. Actually I want to purchase a Muso tomorrow.

Red in a HiFi Magazine that the Muso offers gapless play.

What is correct?

Right now as mentioned, it doesn't support gapless play. A major miss in an otherwise great piece. I hope this will be fixed in firmware upgrades.

Thank you all for you're replies I was beginning to think there was something wrong with my NAS or even worse all of the rips in there as Naim do state that Mu So supports gapless. I wrote to Naim support and had a reply yesterday which to my relief stated that they are aware it isn't currently supporting gapless but that it is planned for the next firmware possibly in September

interestingly - if the Mu-so is being multiroom-ed to, it will be gapless playback !
