New remasters Oscar Peterson
Posted by: Bert Schurink on 21 August 2015
Did anybody already review the new remasters of some Oscar Peterson albums which came out recently. I am planning to buy at least the albums I don't yet have, however will also be interested to replace the others when they are significantly better then the rebook ones I have from ripped cd's.
As nobody replied I will take the test on one album this weekend, besides that I will buy the albums I didn't have yet. Would still appreciate a response if somebody gained some insights.
So this seems to be a post with myself. So I will close it with my first impressions. The three albums which I bought from the new remasters - the plays Count Basie one is ok, but not spectacular ..., the others are great so I will buy the others as well from Qobuz through sublime. A bit odd by the way that they don't have them all so I will also have to get the two missing ones at a more expensive price point from high res audio.com....., but for me worth it....
Hi Bert,
Thanks for this. I have a reasonable amount of Mr P, but much is not of the best quality - either LP or CD. I'll therefore have a look at these too.

Just bought and listened to the Ben Webster meets Oscar Peterson in hires from Qobuz. Excellent sound and value on Sublime plan. Thank you
I'm interested to hear how/if they have improved on the already superb 'We Get Requests'.

I have the cd version from analogue productions and can hardly belief that you can improve on that with the high res version, but let's see I will know tomorrow after my download and comparison. The rest I will also replace and add the remaining ones I was missing anyhow..., will be fun. While the last ones like we get request can only be bought from high res audio at higher prices....
Look forward to your verdict Bert.

Would prefer a complete box set on this, $25+ CDN per CD isn't cheap...
Look forward to your verdict Bert.

So verdict is a win for the high res version, the tone is more round, the bass even more present...., but it's closer as expected with the analogue productions red book version. So recommended, but only if you are a fan....
