Problems Purchasing on Qobuz

Posted by: Harty601 on 29 August 2015

Has anyone else had problems buying albums on Qobuz recently. When I attempt to pay for an album the page just refreshes to the same page (my order has not been processed).

I have emailed customer services and whilst they've been very friendly the fix they gave me is a web link to a page that does not exist. I've notified them of this and the reply I got made no sense at all and did not resolve the issue.

Obviously I can contact them again, but I was so flummoxed by the last response I'd check if anyone had come up against it.

Thanks

Harty

Hi Harty,

Sorry for taking a while to respond, but I have just purchased a number of albums from Qobuz,,so am now able to comment.

I put through an order for 19 albums in total (a mixture of hi-res & CD quality downloads), and had absolutely no problem paying for them and downloading the albums using the Qobuz downloader.

Are you still experiencing problems? I normally use the Qobuz French site (I set up my account before they introduced a UK site), and I pay in Euros, so not sure if this would make a difference.

I also had to contact their customer services people because I was attempting to use a Promo code, and as chance would have it, entered the promo code 15 seconds after the expiry date at midnight. The customer services people were kind enough to offer an extension for me so I could make use of the €55 promotion reduction.

Thanks for the response Hmack. I tried a number of times over the weekend and had the same issue. However, I tried again on Tuesday night and the order went through - I then purchased a couple of further albums without problem.

Out of interest have you gone for a sublime account? I'm trying to work out if it is worth while - the discounts on purchases always looks pretty healthy.

Harty,

Glad to hear everything is now OK.

No, I haven't gone for a 'sublime' account (which I understood to be the CD Quality streaming service). Maybe I have got that wrong.

The discounts do seem attractive if you were to consider buying a lot of downloads from them. But then, if you had a 'sublime' account, would you not just stream the music from them rather than buy the download?

I think for the time being, I'll hold out until the Qobuz streaming service is integrated into Linn and Naim streaming devices. I have resisted the temptation to go for Tidal with my Linn Klimax, and am happy enough to use Spotify as a 'discovery' tool in the meantims.

I buy a lot via Qobuz given the good overall prices. Wrote even about that at my last download where I had very good conditions.

Qobuz Sublime makes a lot of sense if you are a regular buyer. I have already multiple times got the yearly investment back in discounts. For quite a number of albums you have 5-7 euros discounts and for Sublime you pay yearly a bit more then 220 euros. So it's clear how quick you can get that back. And at the same time I also have free streaming account which I sometimes use when I am on the road.

The problems you are reflecting I haven't had. But I have to say I have an account which works for the German and French site. In the beginning I paid with credit card nowadays with paypall. I never had problems so far. Also the downloading is a dream.

The only issues I have seen that sometimes the site returns that it;s too busy. But normally that's just a temporary issue.

And extreme but good example. Was the recent album from Daniil Trifonov, on a competitor website I could get it at 24/96 for 17,50 due to Sublime and an additional discount on bulk buy I got the same album finally for 5,80.
