Unitilite - 2 versions of every track!

Posted by: DNO on 31 August 2015

My Unitilite has just started, randomly, listing and playing 2 versions of every track when streaming...  I've had no problems with it since buying it (previously owned) last March.  I'm steaming via WiFi, as I have done since day 1, with no other problems.  My FLAC files are stored on a WD MyCloud NAS which works perfectly with my Uniti and my Sony SRS-X9 in the kitchen.  The first time I had this problem, I switched of the Server History which fixed it after powering off and on. I also cleared the cache on the NAS and re-scanned the contents, even though the Sony had no problems.  But now it's doing it again.  I've updated to 4.1 soon after I got it, and upgraded to a faster router.  I've searched and found nothing on the forum.  Any ideas?

Have you tried clearing the UPnP cache in the app? From the main inputs screen on the app access the settings menu through the little cog in the top right corner, navigate to input settings > UPnP > Clear UPnP cache. After that completely close the app and reload it.

It's something to do with the Twonky Server software on the NAS...  Despite there clearly being only 1 version of each track of the Album when viewed in Windows Explorer, the Twonky Server URL shows 2 versions of each track in the Album!  So, at least my UnitiLite is fine.  Phew.    I will play with the Twonky settings for now - somebody did warn me about buying a WD Mycloud....

So I'm thinking this is a Metadata problem, not Twonky.  Many of the Albums with 2 'virtual' tracks on the Twonky interface have had their metadata/artwork changed by me in MP3TAG...  Anyone recommend another (free!) tag editor...

Or, it's me making these changes on the NAS and confusing it somehow?

Tag & rename's good, costs a little money but worth it. I would completely clear the tags and re-tag from there.

Thanks J.  I'll take a look

Well known and common Twonky / WD issue ... get Twonky to do a rescan of your music library and I bet you it goes.

Nothing to do with the UnitiLite ...

Thank you Phil - you won the bet!

I have just been playing with Twonky for the last hour or so trying to figure it out;  Rescanning contents or Clearing the cache directly in the Twonky interface did nothing, but rebuilding the database from the WD My Cloud interface sorted it - in case any one else is ever in the same boat! Thanks for all the help.

I knew the UnitiLite was not to blame all along...
