Adding a UnitiQute2 to existing system.

I'm fortunate enough to have a DAC - V1, UnitiServe & NAP100 in one room & Uniti2, NAP200 in another room my aim is to match them all up in a Multiroom concept. I've been advised to add a UnitiQute2 to my DAC - V1, UnitiServe & NAP100 configuration. My question is it possible, worth doing or overkill?
If you want to do true 'multiroom' playback, where you're playing the same music at the same time in both rooms, you'll have to do it by UPnP only, which you can't do in your current set-up. A Qute2 would be the least expensive streamer/player 'front end' from Naim that you could add to your V-1. Another route would be to replace the V-1 with an N172. That could be a little more cost-effective, but I have no idea which would sound better.
I agree with Bart.
But you could get a Qute 2 ex-demo or pre-owned or borrow a demo one from a dealer and try using that instead of the DAC and NAP100. Depending on your speakers and how loud you want it in that room, you may find that is fine and then you could let the DAC and the NAP100 go, which would offset the cost of the Qute 2. You would control both the Qute and the Uniti with the Naim App which works fine on IOS and reasonably well on Android (I haven't tried the Android App myself, so just going by what people say).
hope this helps

Or keep the Qute2/NAP100 combo and sell off the V-1. Not sure why I didn't think of that (I was thinking the OP needed a USB dac, but with the UnitiServe he does not).
The neatest solution would be to replace the V1/100 with another Uniti (or Unitilite, or Superuniti, depending on budget, speakers etc.) Having said that, the V1/100 is a great combo, and if you really like the way it sounds, adding a Qute as a streamer would work well too.
Do I still keep the UnitiServe though?
So that particular system would end up as a UnitiQute2, UnitiServe, DAC - V1, NAP100 & KEF LS50

Hi,
I don"t understand the question re: 'what sort of storage do I have for the Uniti2'.
Sorry!

Dave means what sort of music storage are you using with the Uniti 2.
But presumably you are using the Unitiserve as music storage for both your systems? If you add a UnitiQute 2 to your first system, as I said before you can dispense with the DAC-V1 and stream music from your Unitiserve to both the UnitiQute and the Uniti. You could keep the NAP 100 and use that with the UnitiQute, but personally I would try dispensing with the NAP 100 too and drive the speakers directly from the UnitiQute. Or try it both ways and see which you prefer. The UnitiQute 2, Uniti 2 and Unitiserve all need connecting back to your router. You can use wifi with the UnitiQute and the Uniti but the Unitiserve has to be hard wired, but it is better to hard wire all three and generally these networks are more stable if you connect the three units to a simple switch like a Netgear GS105 which will cost you about £20 and connect that back to the router.
i hope this helps

If you don't keep the Unitiserve, where will your music be stored? The US will happily serve music to two streamers over your network.

I too was assuming you'd keep the UnitiServe and use it as a UPnP server to serve music to both systems. Or you can sell it off and use a Synology or QNAP nas for that same purpose, with a bit more fussing but less cost.
Having just had a quick look at the second hand value of unitiserves, you could probably sell it, get the qute and a NAS and still have change. That's the proverbial no-brainer in my eyes, but then I don't see the point in a unitiserve. Just personal opinion though, I'm sure many people love theirs.
I use a UQ2 with nothing else in a second room to do multiroom off the NDX in the lounge.
