Vinyl hunting

Found the White Album on vinyl tonight for $4.99

Cover is now "brown album" but the vinyl itself is nearly unscratched and just a little dirty...cleaning it now!

Assuming you got a Capitol stereo pressing, what color is the label?

Is there a name inscribed in the dead wax?

Yeah I collect to listen so don't care much about value...but its Capitol with an Apple on it.

Scratched in it is: SWBO-2-101-B35

I know nothing about vinyl value, just look for cheap vinyl that may be dirty but not scratched up bad.

Same here. My query was more about relative SQ value. The Apple label Capitol pressings are from the mid-70s, just before the orange labels. I've found some Apple label Capitol pressings have good SQ, but its variable. The orange labels mastered by Wally Traugott (a script "Wly" or "Wally" in the deadwax) are consistently good. The later purple or black Capitol dome label issues, while still all analog, are not as good for SQ. I don't have any of the original rainbow labels for comparison.
