Why so quiet?
Posted by: dayjay on 18 September 2015
Surprised how quiet it is on here tonight for a Saturday night and can't help but miss one ot two contributors from the past who may have ruffled a few feathers with their talk of panel speakers and complaints about Naim direction and the like but who were often entertaining and challenging and who gave the forum something edgy to discuss. I wonder if it is a case of be careful what you wish for sometimes
......... maybe because its Friday night (?)
I guess the contributors who post stuff that ruffle feathers &/or is a bit edgy have a limited forum life, there is only so long such topics can be "banged on " about before people run out of steam or loose interest. I expect its cyclic, the edgy posters start up & fade away & new guys pop up, then a spate of techno-babble, then new product rows, then politics .......... then we get quiet periods.
Its school time again here in the US...also you posted this at 3PM on Friday PST.
Probably doing something important ..like saving the world from DR death gas.or maybe the more incorruptible side of upgraditus.).... Can you imagine , Vampires infected with upgrade juice.. Those Super Lumina's will go PHISST. when it comes sunlight !!
Why so quiet?
Possibly due to the ensuing autumnal equinox. Things should pick up after Wednesday.
IF YOU WANT TO LIVEN THINGS UP IN THE INTERIM, TRY USING ALL CAPS. SOME HERE CONSIDER IT SHOUTING AND ARE QUICK TO ADMONISH SUCH USERS. FORUM DECORUM SEEMS TO MANDATE WE TYPE QUIETLY HERE.
Rugby World Cup opening ceremony and game David?
When did you come back?
When did you come back?
I thought you had left?
Yes its quiet, but so what? I don't see the point of a break, its a forum, its something to read like the daily news, a hifi magazine even, its not compulsory to get involved.
It's only as quiet as people let it be. Maybe more people should start some interesting topics.
There are some interesting threads that I have in the pipeline. I wish there were more hours in the day but time is the harbinger of dispensation

All forums go through heavy and light periods and people come and go, it goes with the territory.
I am one of those useless sad buggers who has been in and out of Hifi fora since the birth of the internet.
Only a handful of any of the original contributors are left because people come and go as they get on with their lives.
Two main topics dominate the Naim forum, Naim products and current events / issues.
A typical Naim buyer buys some stuff and goes through the usual upgrade path. Even at the bottom, they have a system that is better than 99% of any other kit on this planet. Therefore once you have got to the top or as far as you want to go, there is nothing else to say without constantly repeating yourself and sounding like some sort of dreary nerd. Then new people come in, ask for advice, hit their nirvana and depart. The good new is that they have a system that they enjoy and they can do what it is all about and enjoy the music.
I am a case in point, I listen to more music than ever before but waffle less on fora.
As regards to current affairs, there are thousands of forums to discuss politics and who is knocking off who etc, so once something controversial dies a death, the posting volumes drop.
Just accept the fact that Hifi is a niche market and the associated forum is not going to compete with mumsnet or facebook.
