Naim App and playlists

Posted by: Dungassin on 19 September 2015

Installed the Naim App on my iPad a couple of weeks ago, and because of various family commitments hadn't been able to listen to anything via my NDS since then.

Today I sat down to listen to some 'toons' (most recent Black Star Riders included - it's superb, BTW) and as is my usual habit I entered the first album via the new Naim app, then added a few random tracks from various albums.

Why don't Naim supply a user guide for their app?

My question is : with the old nStream, when I did this, and set the (temporary?) playlist I had entered, the screen showed me the current playing track, and I could left scroll to see the 'playlist'.

I tried adding a few tracks after the list started playing, and would like to know how I can view the 'temporary' playlist after doing so.  I've tried everthing I can think of, and can't seem to access it.

If I've understood you correctly, I think what you call the 'temporary playlist' is what the Naim app calls the 'play queue.' To view this, you tap on the small bit of album artwork in the bottom L of the screen, and the full play queue comes up.

Thanks.  Alas, didn't actually get me direct to the play queue (thanks for reminding me of the correct name), but only to the actual track playing. You also have to also click on the 'list' icon on the bottom right as well before you get to see the play queue.

Think I prefer the nStream interface, but alas, there's no going back (or is there?)

My mistake.  Just realised that the'list' icon just switches from a sleeve view to a list.

There is no going back, but I think you will find that gradually you will come to like the new App.   You just have to accept that some things are done in different ways to before and play around to find how to make it work best for you. And you have to ignore that it looks more like a mu-so App than a proper Naim App.

It took me a good couple of weeks to reach that relaxed view, mind!

best
