Seattle Hi-Fi Meetup Part 1

Posted by: Sneaky SNAIC on 23 September 2015

Joe and Charlie just left, we listened to a few CDs, vinyl, streaming, etc...great time I had, and I hope they did too.  So much information to discuss between the 3 of us, I think we could have talked for several days straight.

I'm clearly a noob, only poking at this hi-fi thing with a stick.

Charlie brought this vinyl and I'm going to be looking for a copy for myself:

Overall I think the consensus was that my vinyl playback isn't too bad, and is better than my digital.

The Credo were well liked.

+1 on a contact list.

A contact list sounds great.

I have sent an email invitation, but I have no address for marcusman or Gary Moskowitz.  So call me, and I will forward...

Cheers,

Charlie

I would love to get on the list for a Naim TT mat!

Have any of you Seattle guys visited Clark Blumenstein's shop?  He makes a nice product right there in Seattle.  We love the Thrashers and they are his entry level product.   They are not exactly high end but I wish I had discovered them when we had the Nait 5i.

Hi Skip,

Haven't visited Blumenstein's place, but its on my list of hifi stops in Seattle at some point. I've got a preconceived notion that his speakers will have a sound something akin to the Totem Arros. I wonder if you've ever heard the Arros for sake of comparison.

Hmm maybe we need to start a Part 2 thread.

Charlie I'll call you tomorrow and give you my email address.

Thanks,

Gary

I used to do wrist watch get togethers.  We'd get all sorts of trinkets from the manufacturer -- catalogs on high quality paper and oooooh look a keychain to raffle off.

The fun part was the people (if they were fun).  Most weren't but some were.  I made a couple of really good friends that way, and now we vacation together and dine at each others homes and still support each others' consumerism.  I'd hang with you guys if I wasn't in the opposite corner of the Country.

Sneaky, I'm the wrong person for this.  You need someone who works at the factory, possibly for the marketing dept.  Or even better, someone at your local distributor.

It would be nice to meet you if you weren't so far away.  I'm still fairly new to Naim, but does Naim do a Naim listening tour? I'm pretty sure there would be some interest here in the NW including the good folks in Vancouver/Victoria BC.

Hey Guys,

I wanted to email Richard directly regarding changing something on my profile that I don't seem to be able to do. I see that Sneaky contacted him... was that just posting on this thread or is there a way to email the site administrator directly? I searched my profile page as well as Richard's profile page and I didn't find one.

Thanks for the help.

Gary

Gary, you can contact me via the main Naim e-mail (sales@naimaudio.com) as they will forward it on, or you can use a post alert, or else post on my wall on my profile.  Note though that wall posts are visible to all.

Posted on: 30 September 2015 by Naim Gary

Hi Richard. Thanks for getting back to me so quick. That rocks. I just emailed you privately.

Posted on: 30 September 2015 by Richard Dane

No problem Gary.  If you e-mailed me via Naim I may not get it until they forward it on tomorrow.

Posted on: 30 September 2015 by Naim Gary

That's fine Richard. I thought it was something best sent via email as opposed to posted on your wall. I'll await your response.

Posted on: 30 September 2015 by Sneaky SNAIC

I don't have his email either...I'm calling shenanigans on myself...was seeing if Richard was following the thread closely.

On the other hand we *could* have got lucky and received some SWAG.

Posted on: 30 September 2015 by Naim Gary

Nice one SS... seems like he is following the thread(s) as he responded to me with his email address above.

And there's never anything wrong with a bit of Naim swag, for instance how about:

A special chair or couch cushions engineered to support one in the optimum listening position for those long sessions in front of the hifi...

Or perhaps a line of Naim clothing specially designed to not interfere with all those sweet musical waves emanating from the system as they move around the room...

My hope was that Richard, who seems very busy...might have *thought* he forgot promising us some Naim mats or something...*shrug*

Richard: Did I promise to send Naim turntable mats?

SS:  Um...Yes!  Yes you did!  Remember...you were on the fifth pint of Guinness?

Richard:  Oh...um ok let me see what I can do.

This was what I was hoping for sort of...now I'll probably just be removed from the forums.
