Anticipation

Hi all,

I bought my first Naim black box in 2005 (CDX2) after a long demo at my the local dealers. I sampled much of the range at this session an had a good idea about what I wanted. In 2006 I completed the Naim experience  with 300/282 and XPS2. I used to look wistfully at the glossy brochures of the big (500) system and ponder over how good that must be. So today, the 10 year project is complete. After various intermediate steps, I shall be taking home a NAP500 to pair with my NAC552 and CDS3. I guess what I now have was the top tied back in 2005 as there was no 555 and the Statement was years away.

As with all large purchases over the years, I have enjoyed the anticipation of the acquisition. Like buying a new car, the research, planning testing and the like. I even took 7 years to chose the right Precision bass. So I feel a slight tinge of regret that this particular path has reached its end. No more steps or aspirations on the ladder, certainly no Statement even in my wildest dreams.

So I am now anticipating the clock ticking down and I can leave the office with the 2 new boxes, rebuild the Fraim and switch on. I am anticipating great things and a real step up from the trusty NAP300.  I just hope that the quality or lack of, in recent CD and Vinyl does not spoil the fun after completing this 10 year journey. I am looking forward to some late nights this weekend and some wonderful sounds, either side of the rugby.

Hi Bodger.

In case you have a medium level of Fraim knocking about, you should place the 500 a level or 2 up from the Fraim base unit. The 500 PS likes a bottom placement but not the head unit. Isn't this Forum just lovely!  ATB Peter

I think that I will have to block this thread

Dear Chris.

Good thing is that the 300 is preferred over the 500 by at least one person here and your speakers are easy to drive, so please please don't worry about it!  ATB Peter
