Connectibg 252/Super to non Naim amp?

Posted by: Tarquin Maynard - Portly on 27 September 2015

Brainfreeze - I want to do some A/B comparisons with my 300 vs.  a non Naim amp but can't remember what to connect - the manual is beyond my comprehension, so please help!

TIA

Mike, you'll need a 4pin DIN to (presumably) 2 x RCA lead.  The pre out signal is taken from one of the three DIN4s on the Supercap....

Thanks Richard - does it matter which one?

Mike

Made no difference which I used when I tried it in the past.

Mike, in theory no difference, but in practice it's probably good to keep the signal path within the SC as short as possible, so go for the one closest to the Burndy...

Could you not just run the xlr cables to a different non naim amp?

Only if the amp accepts XLR cables - the ones I'm using don't.

Most non-Naim amps using Cannon XLRs will be using them as balanced connectors rather than single ended, so the leads supplied with the NAP300 should not be used in that instance.
