Which is better? Klimax DS or NDX/555PS?

Looks like there is a new Klimax DS out there.  Anyone have an idea on this?  I am looking at both solutions.

Threads like this will always generate lots of opinions, none of which are wrong. However, the only way is to listen and judge for yourself. I have some Linn amplification and only use it for listening to the odd music DVD; I tried using it in my office system, but threw in the towel and changed to a Naim UQ and the music started to flow. I listened to the Linn DS players up to the original ADS and they do not involve me, I preferred the Naim CD5i. However, this could simply mean I've become accustom to the way Naim components produce music.

Where Linn do make a better player than Naim is the vinyl record playing department, as Naim doesn't have a TT that comes close to the LP12, and I think I can say that without fear of contradiction.

My view is the NDX/555PS sounds very much better than the two ADSs I've heard, but Rich does not share this view. So what is the OP to do. Go and have a listen, it's the only way. Otherwise you are in danger of following Tog and buying a Lion, when he now knows the Tiger would have suited him better.

People have chosen components for their systems that they like the best .... however, I find it impossible to say which high quality component is definitively better than another component ... and my view simply reinforces that for the most part I prefer Naim components.

Guy, agreed but I still find value and interest in seeing what forum members think and sometimes one can read between the lines

As for Tog, tigers aside, I find myself much less interested in episodes such as "Tog builds a server" (done it myself many times over as a vocation) but I have appreciated his comments on the apps.

I have a demo buttressed against a trip to a work conference in late May for Linn DS and I am going to the closest Naim dealer tomorrow (two hours away).  However, the Naim dealer does not have an NDX so no comparison possible! !!  The latter is probably an important fact to consider when positing the merits of just how interesting or worthwhile user opinions can be to some users.

This isn't the land of milk and honey where there is a fully stocked Naim and Linn dealer in every village.

Perfectly understandable - Plinko - but then I don't build servers for a living - which all things considered is probably a good thing.

However, I am voraciously inquisitive .....

If you like vinyl and nothing but the vinyl, then you'd find Klimax DS pretty OK, even listenable and most probably better then NDX or anything else.

If you already like the sound of digital (especially NAIM), then we're talking about lions and tigers again.

You could always get a Lion and a Tiger but it could get messy.

It may be me but do you not find Linn advertising and their website a bit ... well ... smug.?
