NDX - Album Artwork

Posted by: Rich27 on 29 April 2011

Picked up my new NDX yesterday, what a wonderful piece of kit, sounds fantastic by the way.  One problem so far, I cannot see any album artwork in the nStream app at all.

All my music is stored on a Synology NAS in AIFF format.  All the files have artwork embedded but I have also tried copying a file called cover.jpg into the music folders with no effect.

Anybody have any other ideas of what else I can try????

I did exactly the same thing and followed the instruction, however, it does not work for me.

It seems I am only getting album artwork if the image is embedded into the music file.

what am I doing wrong?

Hi Rich, Oliver, you don't say which upnp server software you are running on your Synology NAS. Anyway the manual / FAQ for that program will define how to include album art for it.

i use Asset and it uses a file called folder.jpg per album/disc as well as embedded art.

Also worth pointing out after you change or include such a file you will normally need to force the upnp server to rebuild and refresh its database so it can pick up the new album art files.

Nstream will simply display whatever the upnp server sends it... Remember Nstream is kind of like a specialised web browser for the most part dependent on what the upnp server sends it.

Dear Simon,

Thanks for the quick answer.

I have all my flac files on a NAS drive, which is a Buffalo Linkstation.

It has an integrated upnp media server which is pointed to the right directory on the NAS.

Everything works fine, I am 100% satisfied which exception of the reliability of the cover art.

Some work, some don't.

I don't know WHAT the name of the software Buffalo uses for their upnp functionality is.

Anyway to find out?

Or is the problem somewhere else?

Nope it almost certainly is your upnp server, you might need to contact Buffalo tech support.

Usually best to keep album art no larger than 750x750 pixels for compatibility with upnp servers.
