Hollies bargain box set released

Posted by: Guido Fawkes on 02 May 2011

The Clarke, Hicks & Nash Years set contains all the bands albums, EP & singles tracks from the period April 1963-October 1968:

And you get change from £13 for the lot - so it's under £2 per elpee. There are just so many good tracks on the collection. If you liked one their spin off bands: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young then there is plenty to like here and it is every bit as good.

Guy, thanks for the info. I was such a dolt all these years. Last week I was watching the video of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, 25th Anniversary, and CS&N came on, and it finally dawned on me - Nash, Graham Nash, oh yeah, wasn't he in the Hollies? It took me a while to figure that out. I'm getting old, and these guys are getting old, but Nash seems to have aged well. So much talent there. Loved quite a few songs of theirs.

That’s certainly a bumper collection Guy, takes yer back eh?

I suppose these light evenings are rather curtailing your usual nefarious activities , still more time to find and listen to music perhaps.

Thanks and regards

Peter

I remember taking SWMBO and our daughers (then 15 and 12) to see them in Birmingham (Hippodrome IIRC) in 1990 (again, IIRC).  Obviously sans Graham Nash, but still a tremendous live act.  Acquired 3 points on my license on the way home for speeding (apparently I was doing 90mph on the A38).  It was all the girls' fault, because I wasn't watching the speedo, just trying to referee their argument.  I was the only car on the road.

I got all excited then when you talked about LPs and EPs!! OK it's on CD, but thanks for the heads-up anyway.

Happy to report the Hollies box arrived a couple of days ago and is superb. The only negatives are the packaging, ordering of the tracks and less than comprehensive notes, but it is music that counts and it is really nicely cleaned up and presented and the harmonies and songs are timeless.

Just got mine too and thanks for the heads up, I had been considering delving as an Audio Fidelity Byrds cd led me on the CSN and to all three first solo albums post CSNY and Nash's came with a dvd of him talking about his photography and he seemed a nice decent guy.
