forum update from hoopla

Posted by: Paul Stephenson on 05 May 2011

Sometime today, we are rolling out a software update for Hoop.la and LiveCloud.

The major new feature in this update is the addition of Facebook and Twitter buttons on content pages to help promote content that you like.  Just below the content (blog, chats, and topics), you'll see a section like this for sharing the content via email, Facebook, and Twitter:

This replaces the "Share" box we used to have on the right side of the content page. Note that the new sharing bar will ONLY appear if the content is public.  If the content is private in any way, we will not include the sharing tools.

In addition to this new feature, we've made made some minor tweaks and fixed the following bugs of note:

1.  Video Orientation: We had a bug that usually came into play if you posted a video from a phone.  We've fixed this so that we auto-correct the rotation of the video so it will display properly.

2. Blog Commenting Bug: some users were reporting occasional issues with posting comments to a blog. This has been fixed.

3. Email Notifications: we discovered that we were not handling bad emails very well in our notification engine.  This issue may not have impacted everyone, but it is now fixed.

Look for this update sometime later today!

Paul, with respect, what are you on about? Here's a cut and paste from Hoop.la:

It's already happened... seven weeks ago.

The "screen shot" embeded within Paul's cut-n-paste post also shows the date - 16th March 2011.

Perhaps, despite Hooplas broadcast on the 16th march, it just didn't happen then?

Or perhaps Paul has simply cut-n-pasted the wrong update, and there is another one comming out today?

Cheers

Don

I'm sorry facebook and twtter update is NOT a major anything, facebook has the advantage of being a bigger piece of crap than hopeless,. IMO of course.

Really if NAIM think that is what the company needs to do then I think it is a sad day. As said in an e-mail conversation today I had today, does NAIM really think it will fit into the "yoof" market?

The Facebook / Twitter boxes have been at the bottom of every opening post since March.

Like the forum, this thread's toast.

I don't tweet and am a v minor user of fb. However I believe word of mouth is so powerful that probably no company can afford to ignore it.

Existing naim users certainly can ignore it but this is not about existing naim users.

Ah, but facebook can spread the word about naim products and drum up plenty of new potential customers.

I don't know about you guys but i've mentioned a few times about airing a few good tunes via my naim kit on facebook.

Got to be active though to nail em good & proper...!

What's 'facebook'?

Sorry to appear cynical but is this a genuine question?

Facebook on a desktop is bloody awful. As an app on an i-device it's clean and easy to use. Funnily enough, since acquiring a Graham's Hydra two weeks ago I've been listening to music via my Headline almost every night and posting on fb what music I'm listening too. Sometimes I'll attach comments to a photo of a piece of my set up. A couple of guys at work have started to take an interest! So who knows? And believe me, these two guys aren't yoofs, they make me feel young! Tony

I meant listening to, not too. I really shouldn't post at 05.20. That's just after some of you wander off to bed

Exactly. Naim can win new customers from the enthusiasm of its existing ones.
