Posted by: marcobb on 11 May 2011
Dear all,
Any different sound quality as below ripping result on EAC software?
Ripping Speed / Track Quality
4.0x 100%
48x 100%
Thanks a lot,
marcobb
you tell us.
you tell us.
Because i am planning to rip my CD, then i would like to ask every brother for the result.
hope can help.....THANKS!!!
Accuraterip should adjust automaticly the ripping speed accordingly to the quality of the CD data retrieval it picks up. So if it achieves to do it at 48x read speed, this means the CD was quite easy to read accurately. On the other hand, reading it at an average 4X may indicate it encoutered some challenges at doing it.
Soundwise, it should be the same if the process ended as certified "accurate".
Bye.
None at all. I suspect that it will only rip as fast as it is able to read the data satisfactorily, regardless of the speed you choose.
The main thing is to take the time to set-up the program properly before you start ripping; this includes the use of Accuraterip to help verify your rips.
Good luck

Whilst on the subject can anyone explain (in simpleton terms) why the FLAC sample rate varies so widely? Using EAC I have seen values from 500 - 1500

Hi Bosh
It is not the sample rate that varies but the bit rate. The bit rate is dependant on the level of compression that the flac encoder can achieve. It is a measure of how many bits are required to store all the information the encoder needs to store.
The sample rate is the frequency with which the original analogue signal is sampled into a digital signal.
From the FLAC faq:
"the resulting bitrate is roughly proportional to the amount of information in the original signal. You cannot control the bitrate much and the result can be from around 100% of the input rate (if you are encoding noise), down to almost 0 (encoding silence)."
