NDX Users

I am aware there are plenty of NDX discussion but just need opinions of current NDX users.

Options:

1 - NDX on its own

2 - NDX + XPS-DR

3 - NDX + XPS-DR + Ndac

How much sound improvement (in %tages) would you add to option 2 & 3?

The whole thing fits on a low stand, without the need for the tower of power, which looks rather too much like a 70s stack system for comfort.

Okay now I see where this is coming from - not so much the space but the aesthetic. Yup, that makes good sense.

I've been there and back. Used to have a living room with a full rack, massive speakers, and the layout of the room arranged for the system which was a Linn-based AV setup. Then got rid of it all and went for a single AV receiver and satellite speakers that had nearly no impact on room layout and stayed there for a decade.

But I have come full circle after rediscovering how much more I enjoy music the better it sounds. As such, I have come back around to taking no compromises to the limits my space and budget will allow. I still use an AV receiver and satellites for the home theatre which I do not mix with the Naim stuff in the same room. I would say if box count is a consideration, then a 272 is the way to go. But if it isn't (or you are sufficiently far away from your box limit), then go as high as you can with whatever boxes it takes and enjoy the music. If that is an NDX onto a 282 with all the extra power supplies and leads that entails, make it work the best you can in the room and enjoy it.

If you don't like wires, why have an open rack ??

I'm now an aesthetic obsessive coming from multiple box's mounts on black metal racks & the rats nest of wiring that all such racks make no attempt to hide.

Yes I know the SQ arguments & I am not disagreeing with that but there has to be a better way to manage wiring,  but I expect that will upset the cable dressing aficionados.

NDX/SN2 visible side by side.  Hugo & HCDR out of sight.  Extremely high quality replay and aesthetically pleasing.

(The PMC.23 are discreet too )

I like my Hugo visible, in fact it sits on my top Fraim shelf. I find the different coloured LEDs shining through out from its case quite funky... and not least a visual queue of sample frequency from across the room.

Don't you just hate auto-correct!

The light source from Hugo reflects on a near surface for me...which is nice.

SJB indeed, however I think I might have mis spelled cue in the first place

Funny ol' thing this reading lark.

Mrs Mike can spot a speeling mistake at 100 yards,  but having spent a working life reading & making sense of field reports - many from from non-english - I tend to "get the message" rather than notice the detail.

I read Simon's post as --- and not least a visual clue of sample frequency from across the room.

My eye seems instantly drawn to spelling and grammatical errors, which can be most irritating at times. Sometimes I find it hard to read beyond the error.

I think maybe Apple's spelling tool might be better named 'auto-incorrect'.
