Is PRaT better with Vinyl?

Drums sound better and more musical to me, and they really have a lot to do with pace. Digital is timed completely different right?
Was listening to the drums on "No Sugar Tonight - The Guess Who" and decided it was time to post this...having experienced the effect with other vinyl as well but not cogitating it.
I was actually in another room with the door open, and heard the timing of the drums and it struck me (no pun intended). Pace, rhythm and timing is a completely different animal on Vinyl at least from what I can tell so far.
Can't wait until I move to the RP6/Exact...but saving money for now...it will have the TTPSU.
I'm going to wait for the Exact and TTPSU because it all comes with the RP6 together as a cheaper package.
Digital times better, but vinyl and tuners sound better. But Naim CD digital is very vinyl like. Streamers sound very different to our ears.

My two cents : don't underestimate the impact of the platform where your RP is sitting. Made a HUGE change on my RP10 to have a correct platform instead of my "Lovan" stand. Just incredible the impact a this small\cheap part.

I've got the Vulcan Tiger-Paw mounted on a brick wall.

I have a few albums on CD (also ripped) and vinyl.
Usually i prefer the vinyl as it makes my foot tap even more.
Could it be because there is less dynamic compression on vinyl then on CD?
Yesterday I had a really good listening session on both vinyl and CD. I'll say this Beethoven's Eroica absolutely rocked out on the CD but Coltrane grooved on the TT.
It's all good!!!!

I was wondering about this whilst listening to Rob Cowan's programme on BBC R3 this morning. Just why should my FM tuner sound better than my NDS? The BBC is playing either from CD source or, more probably, streamed from a hard drive. So with all the signal processing, losses in transmission etc. why does it still sound better than my locally streamed version from the NS01 to NDS?

it doesn't!

I'm afraid it does. The FM sound is very musical, more involving and just 'right'. Pretty much ever since I bought the tuner (17 years ago) it has remained my best source. The downside of course is that you don't get to choose what you're listening to. But it does sound so right.
Clive, I have noticed this before .. One possibility is that VHF FM has a HF cut off around 14 to 16kHz, and you might have some room reflections that aggrevate with the full bandwidth of the NDS.
if you listen on headphones do you notice the same difference?
i very much enjoy my FM tuner (NAT05) as well, but in my setup FM is good but doesn't beat my Hugo or CDX2 into my 252... But VHF FM absolutely walks over web radio.. Which I find anaemic and lacking..even the so called laughable hidef versions.
Simon
Hi Simon, I've not really listened to the NDS on headphones (or the NAT01, come to think of it) as none of my Naim Audio boxes have a headphone socket, so I cannot really say. The only listening I tend to do on headphones is through my cassette deck when setting record levels and bias adjustment. The problem with trying to do the experiment is that I'd need to listen to the radio on headphones until they happened to play a recording which I have in my CD collection - and that could be a long, long wait!
I totally agree with you about web radio though. I even entered into a lengthy Twitter exchange with the BBC at the time of this year's Proms when the BBC was trying to promote its listen again option on its 'Hi-def' service. They had the audacity to say it sounded better than FM!!
