Credo speakers

Posted by: Sounsfaber on 04 October 2015

Hi all, just a qick question. I have an opportunity to audition some oak (sun bleached) coloured 1997 credo's.

My set up:

cds2/XPS hiline

nac 82

Supercap (olive)

nap 180

sonus faber concerto's

 all boxes serviced except 82

I've had the sonus fabers for about 15 years and I do like them, the only thing that I have some issue with is they are not very open when it comes to listing position, you do really need to be in the sweet spot or you miss out.

So my question is, are the credo a nice match to my system? Do they need to be pushed up to a wall to get their best? as that would be impossible in my lounge. Also are the credos getting a bit past there used by date?

Finally for those people that have listened to the concertos what do you reckon, do they tea bag the credos or vicer versa. im thinking the secoundhand value of the concertos will be around the some price as the credos.

The reason why I ask before/if  I audition. It will be a bit of a mission and I don't want to waste anybody's day off.

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

The Credos will match your system perfectly and can work in a minimum free space as well as close to a wall with careful setup.

I have a pair of 1997 Credos and my crossovers are still working fine but I do wonder how they will sound with new ones installed.

I got in touch with my dealer recently about replacing them but apparently Naim do not make them anymore (the Credo ones).

My Credos still sound wonderful but not being able to purchase new crossovers to replace the old ones has started to be a niggle my mind.

Sorry, I can't comment on the Sonus Faber as I have no experience with them.

Other than that i'd say - go for it.

regards

Thank you for that Stephen. Yes cross overs. I guess the prove will be in the listening.
