Naim meta-data

Posted by: MangoMonkey on 08 October 2015

Has anyone found an easy way to generate flac files or wav files from the wav files generated by the naim streamer to include metadata?

I know that dbpoweramp generates wav files that have embedded meta-data values in them. Can the Naim streamer/UnitiServ interpret this meta data?

This is the only solution I can think of:

a) Have the UnitiServ convert all wav files to flac files. These (hopefully) have metadata embedded in them.

b) Have dbpoweramp convert these flac files to wav files again - this time with metadata embedded in them.

c) *Hope* that UnitiServ can read/understand the metadata in these wav files..

All you need to do is get the serve to convert the existing files to flac, and to set it to rip new CDs to FLAC as well. Then set it to transcode to WAV on playback. You will then have files with metadata and a sound that is just the same as if you were listing to the WAV originals.

HH's suggestions sounds the best way to me...

Now, that's not something you hear every day.

MM, is there a particular reason you want to do this? As HH says, getting the Unitiserve to convert everything to FLAC will give you embedded metadata, which is useful if you want to store and play the files on other devices too.
