New Nait XS and a question

Posted by: EioPago on 11 October 2015

Hello to you all.

I have finally bought a Nait Xs (from 2011).

It's my 1st serious amp and I'm loving every single minute of it.

I have just tried to use my headphones and noticed that the amp will switch automatically to Aux 1. When I manually switch back to the correct source I only get sound through my speakers and nothing on my headphone.

Any idea of what's going on please?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on your lovely Naim amplifier.

I'm sorry to say that I believe the Nait XS of 2011 vintage didn't have a headphone socket. The front panel socket is for an iPhone etc.

A headphone socket was incorporated into the design of the XS-2.

Regards,

Chris

I can confirm Chris is correct ........ per manual "Insertion of a plug into the front panel aux 1 socket will automatically switch the amplifier to that input".

Its a 3.5mm plug INPUT socket for MP3 & iPod/Phone/Pad

I used a Headline/NAPSC when I had an XS - but there are cheaper alternatives (Rega, for one). The Headline combination is too expensive with a second-hand XS. Incidentally, I agree that the XS is a gem.

Sorry, my post is not very clear for someone who is new to Naim: the Headline is Naim's headphone amplifier.

I was impressed with a Creek headphone amp (I think OBH 21) on a friends system with, not sure the model,  other than they where Sennheiser

Time to upgrade to SuperNait 2!

I used a Rega Ear headphone amp with my early Nait XS from its tape socket. Sounded good.
