IIRC a few have tried over in the States with mixed results. I think that Naim also tried it among a number of other options during Fraim development and it was rejected in favour of the glass - I was told that the only thing that beat the type of glass eventually chosen was perfectly flat alloy plate (the same stuff used for the SL2 interface plates) but the cost was ridiculous for the small benefit over the glass. So don't go thinking that the chosen glass was in any way an afterthought.  However some have reported even better results with Sonority shelves, albeit at some cost.  Having tried this myself I can also recommend it.

Great if you live in an area prone to frequent earthquakes ..

Sonority is a step or many above the glass when used in a Fraim.

I'm a bit surprised that so few of the Forum members (especially those with "big systems") seems to use them.

The speaker platforms are fantastic too.

I've used both, Coriander and Sonority, that is. I had a Corian shelf made a good few years ago and used it, on Fraim, under my Linn Ikemi with positive results. It was significantly improved when I added a set of Stillpoints but everything took a major step forward after sampling Sonority.  As others have already commented, Sonority offers a serious improvement overy standard Fraim glass.

I have to say the idea of a coriander shelf is lovely. You could pick bits off and scatter them on your dal.  That auto correct is a wonderful thing!

I have used the Fraim with standard glass, Corian, Sonority regular shelves and Sonority roller Shelves.

The Corian seems to benefit over the glass when there is any component with some compliant suspension within (552, CDS etc) but not so much when there isn't (Supercap etc). The Sonority better both in all ways, with the double-layer Rollershelves c/w ceramic cups/balls being significantly better to just the 'regular' Sonority shelf (which is better than the Corian).

The non-roller shelves have the option of upward facing cones that allow another level of acoustic decoupling, and I believe this is where the sweet spot lies in terms of price/performance. The Roller shelves get expensive quickly...but my NAT01 simply loved them!

just trying one on my cds 2-  haven't received it yet.

Got a bood price on it so not much to lose.

Fun trying these little tweaks.

How much are the Sonority shelves btw?

Hi Ron, Im using TRIPPLE rollers with upwards facit cones under my 552 and NDS, double rollers with upward cones under all the other boxes.

Pricey they might be but they deliver like a "box-upgrade" or more so compared to that they could be seen as cheap (almost).

Anyone tried Audiophile Base platform on Fraim?

quick update- got the AV Options corian shelf from Chris West and have placed it under my CDS 2 on my Fraim instead of the glass that Naim supplies

I notice a slight firming up of the sound- things seem  a bit more solid/organic maybe less "hifi"

Impossible to rule out placebo effect of course.  So far, a nice and inexpensive upgrade.

I've got two of the corian shelves you mention. They have more of a positive effect when I put them under my loudspeakers. :-)

To those who do not own Fraim, I can attest that Corian is a significant upgrade from standard MDF board.
