Very disappointed !

On the Naim Audio Facebook page appeared the High End Swiss 2015 event so, due to the fact that I was in Zurich for the Diana Krall concert, I took the car, drove for 1/2 hour, paid the parking of the Hotel Moevenpick (the hotel of the audio show), paid the ticket of the show to discover that ...... Naim is not present at this event

Ain't that a kick in the head...

Bummer !

How was Diana Krall?  (I've never seen her live)

This thread has inspired me to play her 'A Night in Paris' live album. I'm listening to it now and it's terrific, and I bet it sounds better than a Naim system at a Hifi show. I'd consider it a lucky escape.

Sorry......couldn't resist it.

Maybe it's Naim's way of voting to leave the EU.
Posted on: 17 October 2015 by Clive B

But Switzerland isn't part of the EU.

Now I just feel stupid.

More than usual that is.

Best regards

Diana Krall was wonderful: she played with her band (and also alone with the piano) for more than 2 hours without stopping ! The audience was amazed by her performance.

Unfortunately I could not make it to the concert, had to go to Barca.

May be next time...

All the best

@phosphocreatine Unfortunately I am not at all surprised. After a number of unanswered emails and unreturned calls, I ended up buying my classic Naim bits in the UK and my Mu-so at the Apple Store. Two of the dealers I have a relationship with have expressed an interest and admiration for Naim, while at the same time indicating they can't or won't deal with the importer.

She's a class act, for sure. Declan and her are neighbours of ours.

Now you are just name dropping. Have you had them round for dinner? They could do Pills and Soap.

Well it is good to let Naim know how the Swiss importer is behaving, may be things will change.

My Naim is from Germany being Swiss resident. Price and Service gaps are huge.

Best regards

The strange (and unacceptable thing) is that Naim advertised the event on their official Facebook page when nobody (not Naim nor the distributor) was present at the show (I bought the catalog and Naim was is not mentioned so it was not a last minute chang !). I was already in Zurich so I lost "only" 2 hours and little money but what if I went especially to Zurich just to visit the hi-if fair and the Naim room ?

Nah. We don't know them. They live about 5 minutes away. We sometimes see them around. Spotted them in their Maserati the other day.

In defence of the Swiss distributor, I have had only positive experiences with them. Always willing to chat and give advice. With regard to price differences between Germany and Switzerland they are certainly not huge (electronics are one of the few things that are not hugely over priced here) ok you might save a little on vat ....... Servicing here in Switzerland, although I have no personal experience (my kit it's still fairly new) is by all accounts also good - we supposedly have one of very few accredited Naim technicians so no need to send kit abroad (correct me if I'm wrong here).
Still shame about the no show at the show........
Just don't trust Facebook

The prices for Naim just seem to be close in Germany and Switzerland, once we are actually buying the difference opens up in my experience. The German retailers are way more flexible in discounts.

Yes and VAT is adding up to approx. 10%, - with a purchase worth of 15K we have a free Mu-so on VAT alone for the kitchen.

May be I was talking to the wrong people in Zurich.

Can you recommend a good Naim dealer in Zurich or nearby?

All the best

I was referring to the distributor and not individual dealerships. If you go to the distributors website you can search for all the official dealers there. Distributor is Checktone gmbh
Posted on: 19 October 2015 by gmischol

I can understand the disappointment, but it is just the continuation of the last years, where visitors declined more and more and many distributors didn't show up anymore. I was last year at the show and there the swiss distributor discussed with me the discrepancy between their cost for the show and the number of visitors that showed up. If this tendency continues, soon there will be no Swiss High End any more, which seems to be in contrast what happens at the Munich High End.

The Swiss distributor for Naim seems to invest now more in road shows at their dealers

And by the way, there was/is a list of all brands at the show which was on the homepage of the Highendsociety since several weeks.

dear all, I fully agree with all your comments, no naim (no music) at the show....except that there was a Focal Sopra 2 on demonstration at the optimize audio room and focal is distributed by Chektone....

Posted on: 19 October 2015 by gmischol

No Chektone wasn't present. Focal was on the show through Horn Distribution (CH). Don't know, what this means

I can fully understand that, but why does Naim advertise the event on the offical Facebook page ?
