12 years old Nait 5i

I have been offered a 12 years old Nait 5i for a very good price. But it hasn't been recapped, and I don't plan to do it my self if a buy it.

Is a recap really necessary in this case?

If it's not necessary now, it will be sooner or later. The worst case scenario is that it deteriorates enough to damage your speakers, but more likely it will just gradually sound worse over the course of a few years until you realise that you're just not enjoying listening to music so much.
