What do members make of this new ProAc offering

It has become their most expensive bookshelf speaker having been their least expensive

The old fragile foam surround for the woofer has been replaced by rubber

Has anyone heard a pair?

The ProAc Studio 100 was/is a well-liked monitor in many recording studios and yes, they were very affordable for such a high quality loudspeaker. However at the new asking price they face very heavy competition from the similar size ATC SCM20SL MKII which have better drivers, much heavier cabinets and less expensive. Time will tell if ProAc succeed selling them to the ''PRO'' market...

I haven't heard the SM100s but did used to have a pair of Studio 100s along with the matching concrete-filled Target stands (R2?).  I'm not sure about them being their "least expensive" stand mount speaker though.  There were a number that were more affordable including the Tablettes and at least one other whose model name escapes me. They were a good speaker when matched to a big valve amp but they never quite gelled with the Naim kit.  I'll never forget trying them out against a pair of Allaes - no contest!  They lived in my HT system for a while as rear speakers then I let them go.  I do recall they had rather lovely Michell rhodium plated binding posts.  Hopefully these have been retained on the SM100.
