Naim Audio On Movie
Posted by: rsch on 27 October 2015
Dear all,
Book a chair at your local cinema for the première of the new French comedy with Christian Clavier
" un heure de tranquillitè "
I saw the trailer yesterday where you can see in the cabinet behind him a a big Naim system with no less
than 4 classic boxes.
The main character is in fact a true Jazz vinyl enthusiast and eventually hi fi nut.
Unfortunately he's continously pestered by every member of his family
.
Bonne vision
Well spotted rsch,
here's picture link to a still frame of the film showing the main stack and the turntable. In other pictures it also shows a Superline phono stage.

It appears that while they did bother to plug in the PSUs and connected to the pre-amp and Superline, the power amp (looks like a NAP300) doesn't have illumination of the logo so probably doesn't have the Burndys connected. Probably no space for them behind the shelving.
The t/t looks rather swish - I think it's a Pro-ject Signature 10.

Yup, i was quite astonished to see such a high profile combo in a comedy where they usually have battared old racks. The only downside is the tight pile on of the boxes.
I' de be curious if they found this already like part of the location or it was a specific request on the
script/ producer.
Another example that springs to mind of fine hi fi kit on film was the Sondek on "Inspector Morse" but its presence looked less overbearing.

Roberto

Wasn't it a Roksan Xerxes ?

Yes I think it was a Roksan Xerxes Mk 1 on Morse.
I think the Morse TT's varied - I guess the props dept was not so specific. I've seen a Roksan, but he also used cassette as well.

Here you go - reminds me to get my box set out again. Good series.

Roksan had launched its first record player Xerxes in 1985. Almost immediately it became the reference record player with many audiophiles. Granada TV contacted Roksan in 1986 to provide them with this ground breaking and world leading record player to feature in theInspector Morse TV series. The Xerxes record player continued to feature throughout the series.

For some reason the iFrame option doesn't work, but here it is from Youtube:
No Fraim?
I seem to remember in Indecent Proposal, the rich bloke (Robert Redford) had a decent looking turntable at his place when Demi came over to "talk business". A Basis or VPI perhaps....?
Old Pagan (for that was his name) will be turning in his grave. You bunch of absolute heretics it was a Xerxes with Nait - end of. Inspector Lewis will be around later to investigate each of you in turn.
The power of product placement!
