Curiosity - CD5/Hicap to 82 connection

Looking at the connections guide, the Hicap is to power the CD5 and in turn the signal goes from CD5 to the 82. Is there a reason why this is so, as opposed to the Hicap sending the signal to 82?

It's because the CD5 is a CD player and the Hicap simply provides it with power. No signal is provided by the player to the Hicap.
