can't connect to spotify
Posted by: antonio11 on 03 November 2015
hallo, since I upgraded my NDX to 4.4 firmware I can connect to TIDAL (very nice) but It is not possible to connect to Spotify.
On Iphone spotify works but on NDX appear: "ERROR not possible to connect with server".
Anyone had similar problems?
NDX v. 4.4 upgraded with DAC
Try a factory reset on the NDX.
Do you have Spotify premium ?
Just out of interest do you have your NDX get its network details such as DNS addresses by DHCP from your internet router? If not try enabling that..
Ok, it was worth checking as different streaming services can resolve server addresses differently.
Also might be worth trying re-booting your router.

I will try to installa again the 4.4 firmware
I've got similar problems. Since the upgrade, spotify connect sees the UQ2 but cann't connect to it.
Any ideas?
Naim read this forum please.

Just checked, and working fine on NDS here.
You have to tell the Spotify app to play through the NDX otherwise it will play through your iPhone only.

There isn't a general bug affecting all NDX because believe me all these things were checked endlessly by the beta testing team and if something had slipped through which affected all NDX, the streaming audio forum regulars would know within a couple of days for sure.
But bugs do sometimes show up in all sorts of weird ways, on just some equipment in particular network configurations, and you might want to contact Naim Support to discuss with them. The contact details are in the thread called Naim Support near the bottom of the top section of the Streaming Audio room. If indeed there is a rare bug which is causing your problem, then Naim are going to need help to replicate it before they can start to squash it for you and if it is a network issue then they may well be able to suggest what to try next.

No change in the network settings. When I choose the qute as device in the spotify app on iphone or iPad it tries to connect but after a while it says "devices available". When I try it with the remote control on the Qute, it says it can't find the spotify server.
i have the latest firmware on the ndx and it is working well with spotify. i assume you have the latest naim app version 4.7 and spotify ...1426. if you do update, restart the ipad too...

powered off router, qute and iPad. Powered on in same order, still doesn't work...
Seems like you have tried all the obvious things. Suggest you log a call with Naim support. Details in the sticky.

I agree with the above. But one last thought, you may have said but I forget, as this thread is covering two separate problems, but did you reset the Qute to the manufacturer's settings after doing the firmware upgrade? This was important in another thread in relation to someone's DAB not working quite as expected after the upgrade and it fixed their problem.

Good morning antonio11 and Peter
As suggested twice already in this thread, your best course of action is to contact Naim Support. This isn't a known bug with the 4.4 firmware. It may be an obscure bug but Naim won't know where to look for a problem unless they can talk to you about it and suggest some things to try.
But one other thing I would try if it were me is to take your Naim unit to a friend's house and connect it to their network. Then see if you can connect to Spotify from there, because this is almost certainly going to be network-related too and whether it works or doesn't work on another network, that is really important information. You don't need to take anything else, just the Naim unit and your iPad/iPhone.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
David has flagged this up to us for attention (thanks David) - please note that we do not actively patrol threads looking for support requests and so (as has been suggested several times above) please, if support is needed from us, do contact us at the details given in the sticky that has been highlighted otherwise we may not even see a thread on the forums.
Right,
When you say you can't connect to Spotify on the 4.4 firmware, does the streamer give any error messages on the display when you select the Spotify input? What does the streamer say on the front panel display?
When you run up the Spotify app on your handheld device is the app able to find your streamer on the list of Spotify Connect devices on your network?
Cheers
Phil
