and I will continue to do so.
My unitiserve had an intermittent fault so the unit was sent back to HQ via my dealer and in exactly two weeks its come back fully updated to the latest software, repaired and best of all upgraded from 1TB to 2TB!!!! all gratis.
Thankyou and well done NAIM that is the reason I buy from you and will continue buying from you
Hi True Blue,
similar toys over here. I have the Rega RP8 coming through Rega Aria into SN2.
Are you sure the stageline is up to the Apheta?
BTW, I also have the 2TB HDX and the Rega Apollo 35th, which is a 95% Saturn (old series of course).
Best
Chris
Apheta works great with Stageline if it's an S variant. Not as much gain as say the Rega Aria but very nice. I've used both.

Same story from me when my Unitiserve broke. It came back fixed, the hard drive upgraded and wth a new transformer - all for free despite being 3 years old.

Great result on the US. As I have a similar amps and speakers, I wondered whether you can say how the GB1i responded to the SC (assuming it was part of your system when this happened)

Following a chat with Phil Harris, (top bloke!), my NDS had to go back to Salisbury earlier this year to have a new digital board fitted, since it had been reluctant to accept any firmware updates.
It arrived back swiftly, the board fitted, and the latest firmware installed...............with no charge.
That's why, as the OP says, "I buy Naim".
The SQ is what got me hooked on the brand, and the customer service is what keeps me coming back.............on that old upgrade path!
Well upon close inspection on rant threads, you will eventually surmise that it's not all about music and sound for some...but more the ability to spend money and make people do stuff perfect in a specific time frame. Deep down we all like it a little bit, but I imagine some with extraordinary means eventually lose interest in most items they own and they only find interest in the control their means gives them. They may actually be shocked and slapped back into reality by a simple mistake.
If it was only about music and sound for everyone, the exactness of the shipping and handling, etc...unrelated to sound quality, would not be such a big deal would it? For some with a lot of financial power, patience goes by the wayside, and each new thing is less appealing than the one before it. Once again, all of us have probably experienced a smidgen of this...but there are always extremes.
Hi-Fi is a like a lot of other things in life: At the luxury end, people are not so much in it for the greatness of the item, just almost no one else has it--and they get wined and dined personally the more they spend. Similar to high-rollers in Vegas...'tis more about the perceived friends they have all around them.
Met a friend in Houston on a elevator many years ago. We had played High School football together in Texas, and he was a star QB. He made it to the NFL briefly, and here he stood in an elevator looking for a job. He said something to the effect he'd not realized how fake the world he lived in was until he was kicked to the curb. He said he now had no friends except his momma, and the only thing he had left was the Lexus he got.
Old story replayed many times I guess...I'd probably be just like that if I had the opportunity and I'd be eating my words. All goes down to the inner person and how big their gaping hole is, I guess. Having photographed celebrities quite often, its clear they live in a "bubble" made up by "handlers" that keep them in a suspended state of reality. Managing their lives completely, these handlers enter rooms before them to "prep" the room for their entrance. It's really bizarre.
Actually I think very few on here criticise Naim, at least on this forum.. The odd complaint or 'rant' sticks out like a sore thumb.. Most are very supportive and it is the service from Naim that for many, including, me is a big plus to the brand.
Another example of great service support.. Free repair to my Hiline connector.. I only paid postage to Naim ...

Everyone? Really? I don't think so. I expect it's broadly similar for most Naim customers. I buy it because it sounds good if not peerless. I return to Naim for my next upgrades because of their sound per pound and their after sales service. Because of their excellent after sales service and the professionalism of the dealers I have used in England, Naim usually if not always get first shot at the next candidate for upgrade and because of their musical performance, a second candidate hasn't been necessary for some years. I will continue to do this until circumstances give me a reason to change my behaviour and I find something better.
This may never happen but never say never. After in excess of 20 years with a particular car brand I will probably switch next time because my local dealer has turned into a cowboy and the cars have gone average.
I have found Naim to be very helpful with any issues I have had, there have not been many.
I returned my 272 which had problems with popping on a digital interconnect, within the week a new unit arrived at my home.
A forum can be a good place for companies to see very quickly when things do go wrong.

Hi Dave, my NDS keeps throwing back Error 28 at the very end of any firmware update. Is that the same error as you encountered? Sorry if I misuse this thread....but would be glad the find the reason.
You'll have people hoping their NAIM gear breaks down at this rate!
Unlike the majority on here I am not hooked on Naim - I have yet to be convinced that the brand, per se, offers more than various others. Maybe I don't understand Prat - my aim is realism, not emphasising particular aspects such as trhythm, pace and timing, as they are only part of the whole.
However, my distinct impression is that Naim is an ethical company, treating their customers with respect (yes there are errors, but while humans are involved that is inevitable even with the very best of systems - what counts is what is done to resolve any problem).
So whilst I found the ND5XS to be a reasonable replacement for my defunct Shearme CD player, simultaneously allowing me to move to hard disk streaming, I soon found that there are alternatives that are better for much the same money. Despite that I feel drawn to this community, both as a contributor and to learn from others' different experiences.
If there was a Naim dealer within realistic listening distance of me then I'd certainly go and hear some amps, despite my inner feeling that they're not for me, but as its several £hundred and an overnight stay minimum, that's unlikely, and without being afflicted by the upgrade bug it is likely to remain as it is until either something in my system dies or I win the lottery and have a chance to consider some of these speakers I've imagined may be better than mine, and possibly the rest of the syestem too.
