Naim DAC latency value?

Posted by: Stoik on 06 November 2015

Hello Naim world,

I have a friend interested into testing the nDAC into his system. The thing is that he's using a DEQX DSP/Preamp to feed 3 amps on each channel in an active multiway set-up, and we need to know the Naim DAC's latency when feeding the DAC on a BNC S/PDIF input, in order to do proper adjustments into his DSP settings.

I haven't found anything by having a quick look into the specs and white papers of the nDAC, but found an unofficial 30 milliseconds time with the help of the search engine on the forum.

Thanks in advance and have a beautiful week-end.

Bye.

Up!

Maybe I expressed my request unclearly:

I want to know the time latency when feeding the nDAC on the S/PDIF input. (It's the time needed for a signal to go in and out of the DAC, it's expressed in micro or nanoseconds usually).

Thanks!

Bye.

Stoik, I reckon your best answer to this will come from Naim - I'd drop a line to Steve Hopkins at the factory.

Thank you Richard.

I'm afraid that the answer could be "It's variable, due to the DSP filling the memory buffer in direct correlation to the number of data error flags reported by the PLL input chip, and the sample rate". Crossing fingers...

Bye.
