CDS2 internal Spring mount realignment

Posted by: Sounsfaber on 08 November 2015

Hi, I unfortunately gave my Cds2 a good knock yesterday.  Fortunately It still works, but I've noticed that when I give my rack a little bump I can here some knocking inside the Cds2 transport, it's not the tray either. I searched this forum which directed me to fitting the transport screws. While being very careful not to turn the cds2 upside down or even off level I had a look in the bottom screw holes. The hole closest to the back wasnt centered with the box by 2/3. So after relocating it and dialling in the other screws I removed them then hooked everything backup. Now my cds2 is no longer knocking internally in the same  scenario as mentioned above.

My questions.... was that the right thing to do? Do I need to get the folks to check it out? Is it very hard to open her up and have a look see without damaging stuff like the top door mechanism?

sorry for dumb question,Ive got a touch of Naim ocd.

Sounds like you did the right thing. Main issue is when the tray gets jolted and the pins jump out of the cups and just rest on the leaf spring arms. That needs attention and its usually obvious that SQ is impaired.

Thanks Richard,  im in the  process of demoing a nap 250 DR and at the same time a fraim base for a box, so the sound is not what I know so well. Anyway after relocating the holes I believe the sound improved somewhat, do you think it would be out of my league to open her up to have look?

Got go to bed now work in morning, pls don't I'm ungrateful or rude if I don't reply.

regards.
