From Mains Cables R Us offering a linear supply for Unitiserve....at a price double than the other one.

Anyone with first hand experience with said product out there .

Any feedback on the MCRU would be useful.  The only review I've seen is the Jason Kennedy online review, and haven't found any other comparative references.

A mid-price alternative would be the Paul Hynes Audio SR-5, at around GBP 685 for standard and GBP 745 with silver cabling option - reportedly beneficial with digital loads having a pulsed draw.  This has been well reviewed over several years with Mac Minis and Squeezebox.  They advise 15 days from the new factory operation which claims to have overcome previous delivery issues.

As for the other less expensive option you already have ... been there .... I can confirm it's slightly less bad than the standard Naim supply, but still leaves a vast musical gulf for improvement into a DAC.

Hi,

Yes I took a punt and purchased one of these for my u/serve and yes it improves everything and doesn't negatively impact on anything. All of the toe tapping sound remains, what you gain is scale and stage depth. Be warned a powerline lifts the game even higher and the XLCR will not fit between a standard fraim shelf. I have the XLCR/powerline for almost 4 months now and it was well worth the money.
