Upgrade to s400's from arrivas

Hi all, more advice would be appreciated, my system is cdxs, powered by flatcap x2, to ndac, pre is nac 122x and power amp is 150x, arriva speakers. To upset the appple cart straight away i have tried a pair of sbls and preferred my arrivas, i am now Wondering if i should buy some second hand s400s or would i be better with a 282, or xps for the dac

Posting in the "Hi-Fi Forum "will probably get more results, but my suggestion would be to try a 282 first. The preamp makes a big difference. The speakers may be a bit outclassed but you will hear things that you have not heard before. Upgrading the source would be my second step...

Is running the cd through the dac not a decent upgrade of source, i read a cd5xs with dac plus xps was better than stand alone cdx2
