Where has Rovi album info gone in Naim app?
Posted by: feeling_zen on 14 November 2015
Anyone else noticed this?
It's still there, look for the little book icon.

Yup, that is what I mean. The book icon is now gone.
It just up and vanished yesterday in the middle of a listening session and never returned.
Dear feeling_zen, I just report your issue to the beta team, can you also contact Naim support in order to let them to reproduce the problem?

I've just tried it, all ok here.
iPad is OK, must be an Android issue
Naim are aware, or will be Monday, I reported another Rovi issue & bicela has linked this thread to that.
Have you tried clearing both the audio & art cache's and/or reset and/or deleted & re-installed the app?
@feeling_zen, not intentionally removed, I love this feature too! Which input are you using? We have had a report of a bug where it can disappear on the USB input but as far as I know this does not affect the USB input. We will get this sorted for the next release, the beta team will probably see it fixed in the next round of beta testing.
@Chris, I'm always dubious of the delete it and re-install approach! Especially as if you do this you will loose all your user created playlists unless you remember to back them up first.

Hi Tom,
Wow, Sunday hours. But since you are here..
This is on UPnP. However, I have made some traction which might explain things.
1. On the iOS app, I did a "Reset app" from other options and this fixed the issue. Seems like there may have been an update that needed this to be initialised because the app works differently now. I see that "compatibility mode" no longer exists as an option but the book icon leading to Rovi info is reinstated and appears to work. There are subtle difference to the navigation as a result of this.
2. On the Andriod app, I also did "Reset app" from other options and this had no affect on the availability of the book icon (have never seen it on Andriod version and that has not changed). Similar to the iOS one, compatibility mode no longer exists. In fact, the app appears unchanged apart from this.
So it seems like there was an update pushed that was incomplete until the apps were reset. Are you able to confirm that the Rovi info is not available on Android by design?

Tom, fair point about the playlists. I get round this by running the app on 2 iOS devices, so I can transfer them from one to the other. Having said that, I now keep my playlists on the server instead of the Naim app, which makes things a lot simpler.

Good that you've got it sorted. The Android app never had Rovi.

How do you keep your playlists on the server rather than the ios device?

I guess it depends on the server you're using. I use a Naim Unitiserve, and playlists can be created and edited in the N-Serve app. They can then be viewed and played (but not edited) in the Naim app. The downside of this is that you have to close the Naim app, then open N-Serve, to add tracks to a playlist.
Note that these playlists appear in a folder in the UPnP input, unlike those created within the Naim app.
@Tom
How do you backup playlists created in the Naim app? I've always been a little concerned by tales of playlists disappearing - I'd feel much better if I could copy them somewhere. I'm using Asset.
