552 volume control/balance problem?

I've just acquired an ex-demo 552/500 combo. The sound level between the left and right channels are not quite balanced. This is particularly apparent when the volume control does not pass the 9 o'clock mark. And when the volume control is set at zero, the very low level of sound coming out from the left speaker is more apparent than that from the right speaker. I'm just wondering if anyone here has ever experienced this? The sensitivity figure of my speakers are of 93db. Thanks!
