NDX update

Posted by: Stekeltje on 16 November 2015

Dear members,
I am considering to start streaming and am therefore interested in NDX. However naim is currently upgrading the Classic series, introducing Discrete Regulators etc. does anyone know if there are plans to give NDX an upgrade (DR, DSD, 348 up-sampling ....) if so it might be worthwhile to wait for new version.

Naim do not say anything about future plans prior to an announcement and so forum members don't know the answer to your question, unless they are for example Naim staff who are required to keep silent on future plans.

There has been no announcement about future changes to Naim streamers.  You can already (since firmware update 4.3) use DSD files on an NDX.  I think it unlikely that Naim would DR the NDX because they currently advise the use of a better power supply like the XPS which has now been DRd.

Best

The streamers had a number of firmware updates recently, so I doubt there's anything new about to arrive. As for new hardware, Naim never announce anything until close to it's release date, so we can only guess......

Hi, I think Naim have just updated the NDX... It now has Bluetooth I believe... the NDX has had several revisions in addition to the recent Bluetooth.. Including streaming hardware, and RS232 to USB upgrade port modification..

I bought an NDX new in 2012 and am pleasantly surprised how current it is, both due to firmware updates for DSD, Spotify etc. and also the fact that the underlying streaming tech hasn't moved on much. Also allows full system control from remote or app. I don't need Bluetooth & have the USB port version - overall a versatile and great sounding machine.
