Unitiqute and NAP100 - worthwhile upgrade?

Posted by: Hindsight on 20 November 2015

Hi

I'm wondering if anyone has tried adding a NAP100 to a Unitiqute? To be honest my existing setup  (Unitiqute 1, linn majik 140 loudspeakers) sounds pretty good but I'd be keen to know if any has demo'd the NAP100 and had a view on its impact on sound  whether it is worthwhile And makes a big difference etc.  I realise there is no substitute for a demo myself but would be keen to know what others think. As upgrades go it was one of the more affordable options compared to the alternatives like a uniti2 or super unit.

Thanks in advance

You will find mixed views on here but personally I much prefered my qute 2 with a nap 100 on it.  More of everything and a more 'grown up' sound in my view.

Flip a coin.  Some love the upgrade and think that it is the bees knees.  Others think it detracts from the character of the Qute.

This is an upgrade that seems to divide opinion - there are those who prefer the Unitiqute on its own. If you search the forum you'll find plenty of opinions either way, which I guess doesn't really help you - sorry!

Thanks for the prompt replies all. Interesting that there are mixed opinions about adding the NAP. Just goes to show that a demo is the only real answer.

+1 Dayjay.  I preferred the Qute with a 100. It wasn't 'dramatic', just more goodness.

I have a NAP100 on my Qute2 and combined with the tiny IOTA's am constantly amazed by the sound they produce.

That's the problem, like a quick hit of crack, it can get you addicted to the sound and all of a sudden you've got terminal upgraditis.  I had my Nap100 for less than six months before I upgraded.

Yep. I lasted 18 months or so. it really wasn't because the Qute/100 was bad - quite the opposite. It was because the Qute was very good and the 100 was better and then I wanted even more better . . . it might never end, although I'm very happy with my 172/200.

The 100 is a gem. It took the 200 to beat it - the 155xs wasn't a real improvement for me. For the money the 100 is one of the relative bargains in the range.

agreed, its unbeatable for the price.  I moved to an SN2 which I love but which costs a lot more money too, the main driver was to have a remote volume because I had my Hugo feeding the Nap 100 and to get even more of that sound

Added a NAP100 to my Qute earlier this year to drive a pair of Neat Motive SX2s.

its a major step up - especially when you turn off the power amp in the Qute...
