System set up Guy.

Hope I'm not contravening forum rules , but there's an interesting article over on the online magazine  The Audio Beat (sorry I don't know how to post a link)

Someone comes into your home, dismantles the Hifi and rebuilds it so it's just so - at some considerable cost - with system optimised to the best of its abilities.

makes interesting reading , a mention of the role of good dealers who should be doing this but are more reluctant to do so nowadays because of pressure from customers wanting a good deal.

Tobyjug,

just as well you don't how to post a link - a link to The Audio Beat, unless authorised by Naim, would not be allowed in here.  However, I'm sure most will be able to find the article without too much trouble.

Bo**ocks.

More like, more time back at base equals more time fleecing customers.

Well my dealer does that all as part of normal service and at no cost. Indeed, he's also very prepared to make adjustments and tweaks between sales/demos to ensure my system performs optimally.

As is often said on here, there is nothing more important than finding the right dealer (regardless of budget).  I can only think that the author of the article hasn't found or experienced one.

Hey, maybe this is something I could do on my Wednesdays off. £400 a day plus expenses should cover it.

Selling yourself cheap Nigel.  IT consultant come in at a grand a day plus expenses and that's far less useful

Yep. No one will take you seriously for 'only' £400 a day, Nigel.

It does go on to say the Linn/Naim dealers that some here on this forum are familiar with who do a sterling service for their customers.

Thanks for the marketing advice. So, if anyone is interested I can offer my services at £800 per day, plus expenses, a vegetarian lunch, a bottle of Barolo and some socks. Massaging of one Burndy is included. Each extra massage will be £50.

I would pay you to connect a Nas device to my network and unitiserve, back up my albums and show me how to download high res albums.

For 800 quid a day I will sketch your album covers in real time and hold them up for you as the album plays!

I can do that. Gizza job.

Wow, inflation is really bad these days. It seems like just this afternoon it was only £400 a day.

Not too sure about your offer to massage my burndy either, or what extra massage you're offering for fifty quid. You might be on the wrong forum.

I could always bring my relative who is a dominatrix, but you may get more than you bargained for. She's £2,000 for the night. Or £120 per hour during the day.

He needs to pay for all that marketing advice

My dealer (Tune HiFi - Seattle) does this as part of any purchase.  He knows that room/setup are an essential part of the listening experience. A great service and very appreciated.  Makes for very loyal customers.

You really need to find a better dealer, mate, if that's your considered opinion.

One well known dealer drove 150 miles to demo a pair of speakers at my home in the knowledge that if they didn't work I wouldn't buy them.  When they "passed the test" he spent an extra 20 minutes sorting out the cabling on my system FOC.

That's what the best Linn/Naim dealers do.

Mine?  Love 'em!  I am interested to try others (SL2, PMC) to see the difference, but overall they do it for me.

Posted on: 23 November 2015 by Manu

Damn, I do that every day for dealers and end users for free.

I can do 2 per day, 6 days a week these days...

can I charge the same amount by remote login to your network?

I am qualified to do it for Statement as well.

i can do a DR upgrade and /or recap on site.

should I change job?

Just looked the Set Up Man article,  wow I would be just thrilled to have a system looking like this,  ......  the neat carefully optimised speaker cable routing laid out & aligned for exact polar magnetic field neutral,  the ying-yan perfection of the component spacing around the room & note the attention to the detail of system grounding with all the components as close to ground as possible.   The only questions I have is exactly what frequency is the carpet tuned to & is the medium grey any different from the light grey & does the angles of the pattern aid sound-stage positioning ....

I expect my significant other will be even more thrilled,  I am about to show her  ........

Me too. It made me smile and good luck to him  Makes a change to see someone coming to the UK to set up from abroad. Don't know the client or the system, but it's the kind of effort that gets noticed - More power to his elbow.
