NAC 62

I am thinking of buying a CB 62 preamp. It has a MM phono stage as well as a tuner, auxiliary, and tape input. Which of the three line level inputs would be best for a cd input? Is this simply a matter of "try it and see for yourself", or is there a preferred one? Thanks.

I'd use the tuner socket.

Between Tuner and AUX, I think that the Tuner input is marginally the shorter path of the two, but it's probably academic, so if you have a tuner then keep it on the Tuner input and use AUX for the CD.

And pull out the phonocards if you don't use a turntable

free upgrade and marginally better preamp

the input can be converted to line in if you need another input

I use the tape input, but set the mute/normal/monitor switch to monitor.

Doing this bypasses the selector switch, which can be a source of sound quality degradation, the contacts can get pretty dirty over time.

This particular preamp is from 1987, and hasn't been serviced. It's in nice shape but probably needs a little TLC from a tech. Should be interesting...
