Install advice

Posted by: Graham Clarke on 26 November 2015

Have just taken delivery of a Powerline.  Please advise whether I should wait for my dealer to install or whether I should have a go myself?  Is it a tricky task, as they didn't supply install instructions

Graham, shouldn't this be posted in the padded cell...?

I see the exploding sausage found a use though, so not all bad...

Possibly, but as a leg pull on the 500DR thread the same place seemed logical.  Feel free to move if you so wish.

i know above is probabaly tongue in cheek, but there are actually quite a few dos and donts when installing powerline - ensuring secure/firm connection, dressing etc.

Extra level of difficulty if Fraim has no Fraim-guards -- as in "the case of the disappearing balls" -especially if you are installing on 500's!

Also old age complicates things a bit... :-)

But once you master the technique -- plain sailing!

But you know all this already anyhow....

enjoy

Honestly Ken, letting the facts get in the way of a good leg pull!

Well, quite honestly, if you can afford a Powerline you can afford to get someone to install it for you. What are you whinging about man? Grow a pair.

Did you install your new 300s Graham? If so you should find the Powerline a doddle.

Hungryhalibut will do that for you for a very reasonable £400 per hour.

Hi Graham

I always ask my National Grid dealer to install Powerlines.

It gives the cottage a much better continuity of electricity, especially after stormy weather.

I think he's charging £800 per hour now, so for £400 he can only half install it

Mr Clark

I hope you only have the "one" Powerline to worry about ?

No joke, it's really hard. I installed a Powerline between the PS and 250 and it really didn't want to go into the 250s XLR socket. I had to force it until I heard loud cracking. Now the other end also doesn't look right for the DIN on the PS bit here goes. Nothing a bit of brute force and stubbornness won't fix.

Here's a pair I grew just for you, Harry.

Good grief no!  My dealer did that when he delivered them.

Honestly, where's HH when you need him?  I'm not sure I can stretch to £800 for install though.  Maybe he could install one end of it for £400?  I've found my club hammer so think I can install the other end myself.

If it won't got into the DIN socket try sawing off a pin or two, I'm sure they're not all required.

That's more like it!
