Service a Naim System

Posted by: staffy on 27 November 2015

NA CD5 player, NA CD5 integrated amp and Flatcap 2 Power supply.

I have a new stand for the equipment, but I am wondering how do I get the equipment serviced.   What exactly does this entail.

Do I have to send everything back to Naim for a service to take place.

Take them to a Naim dealer and they will send them to Naim service dept. Alternatively, send them to Class A in Sheffield, who will also do a good job and might be cheaper; he's the only Naim-authorised service centre in the UK.

Links aren't allowed in here but a quick google of "Class A" and "Naim" should get you there.

As Richard says, Just google Class A Hi Fi service.  Darran will look after you.

Talking from experience.

Why does it need a service? How old is the kit? I wouldn't bother having the CDP serviced if it's working properly.

include Sheffield as well

Thanks folks.  I live in Ireland, and Class A only deal in mainland jobs.

WHY

would the CD player not need a service, yet the amp and PS would.

I appreciate the help BTW.

Unless there is a problem with the transport mechanism the CDP doesn't require a 'service' as amps and preamps do.

Don't bother servicing the CD player, there's hardly anything to service, just get it done if and when you have a laser issue. I also would not bother servicing a Flatcap2 as once again there is hardly anything in there, unlike a Hicap. The Nait would be worth doing, and yes, Darran at Class A is your man.

I will accept most work from inside the EU with no problems, just not older cd players where mechanisms are no longer available.

Darran @ Class A

No links, I understand. What if I wanted to suggest that someone in North America search the term "cora canada naim repair" as a possible service center. Would that be moderated?

Another option would be to sell both the amp & flatcap and use the funds combined with what you would of spent on a service and go for a new Nait 5si instead.

Probably not as good an amp as the one I have.  Or only slightly better.

Yep, good fun as a 5i is, for really upgrade, get a 72/140 or 32.5/110 or late 152/155 (expensive) maybe ad a separate PSU (not the FC)
