Neat iotas

hi all anybody tried these with naim regards

Yep, there are quite a few who have them, including me. If you do a search you'll find other views. They are a great little speaker. Bass is good given their size. I have added a cheap Monitor Audio Vector sub which cost less than £90 new on an auction site. I do not feel the need for anything bigger. They are on the end of a 172/200 combo. I have the recommended brackets, but I don't particularly like them as you really have to tighten them very hard to avoid the speaker heading downwards. I also had them sitting on cones on a cabinet and they worked well, but my Naim speaker cable is too inflexible to keep them in place. As others would say, best to audition. I moved from Spender A5s to the Iotas and do not regret.

In a word - superb.

I have the on the end of a 72/HiCap/140 fed by sonos connect.  Sounds great to me.  Very musical. Consider a sub if you want to extend the (somewhat) limited bass and 'fill in' the sound a bit.

Couldn't really answer that one Martin.   But Mrs Strat and I first heard them on the back of the Unitiqute quite a while ago but she still mentions how good it was.  Punchy, detailed, so engrossing.  They sound considerably more expensive than their actual price.

In the right room they sound brilliant on the end of a qute 2.  Very clear and detailed, lovely tone, good soundstage and much much better than you would expect for the price and size

Cannot say about the Kans, however my partner commented most positively on their sound from the moment she heard them. All other speakers since a pair of MA 852s have never been commented on.

Funny thing about Kans; I've just had a rearrangement of the house and systems and I have put my Kans in my little office/AV room.  Even after all these years their clarity and ability to communicate can come as a big surprise.  Whenever there are voices being replayed the dog sits up and really pays attention.  Somehow only the Kans manage to do this...

Kans are wonderful with an LP12 and a 250 to drive them but with a CDX, which is hardly mellow, I'd avoid them. The Iota will be a lot more forgiving, and judging by people's comments should be ideal to sit on your desk.

The Iota is a lovely little speaker that works well with some relatively modest kit, as mentioned, a UQ is a good example. Personally however, i tnink they fall short of something like a Neat Motive, and in a more sophisticated setup, a long way short of Kans. Having used Kans with an LP12 and a CDS3 many times over the years, i'd probably avoid them on a harsher digital source. As Richard said above, Kans still cut the mustard today, and given the right circumstances can positively astound you with their ability. The Iota for me will always limit what you do, but in a nice way.

Inspired by Richard Dane in his earlier reply and due to the fact i have a few spare amps and CD players lying around at present i decided to fire up my Kans which sat atop a wardrobe for the last few years. I connected them up to a SN2 with CDX2.2, and supported them on Kan2 stands against the solid wall of my bedroom, which is pretty much the only room that does't have a system.

Anyway, if anyone thinks a CDX2 can't play Kans they should maybe think again. I have always loved Kans when they suit the room, and this is no exception. Seems a CDX2.2/SN2 is a fantastic match, as was my CDS3/Nait2 was the last time i tried in my living room. Not entirely sure i want to disconnect it all as it is getting under my skin. Perhaps i should dig out my Stageline and buy another LP12...
