Hi , ive just done the dsd update on the ndac , all worked fine , no problems .. I,m new to dsd so i decided to download a free eric bibb track from dsdfile.com 2.8 mhz just to test it ( no idea if that was right or wrong ) .. That all worked pretty well , downloaded that onto an empty usb stick that i,ve used before with the ndac ... Plugged it in to the ndac and it played fine , quite liked it to be honest ..
so i decided as a trial to dowload the 5.6 mhz version of the same track , did that ok .. Plugged the usb stick in and the dock light stays on and no sound at all , tried pressing the play button but nothing ..
so i deleted the 5.6mhz of the stick just as a test , and tried again with just the first track on it ... Plugged it in but same again no sound ?? Which is strange because that was alright about 5 mins ago ??
is there some special way i should be doing this , it was all going so well , not sure if its to do with it being free ?? Someone on here will know m sure .... I,d be a bit cautious if i was buying dsd unless i knew i could play it easily on the ndac ..
Thanks for looking i know the brains of the outfit on here will know the answer , thanks Roy

Valentino, try a USB stick that you know already works well with music on the DAC. Then do a re-format (FAT32) and then put the downloaded files on the stick - make sure they are all individually on the root directory of the stick rather than within a folder.

Thanks, Richard Dane, l already got successful upgraded for my ndac.
BTW, could this improve the sound quality of the CD5xs or just get benefit for the DSD file ?

If you're using the CD5xs as a transport into the DAC, then yes, the latest FW update to the DAC could also benefit your CD replay as well. The FW update is not just about giving the DAC DSD replay ability, it's also about improving sound quality right across the board regardless of whether DSD or PCM.

That's good news Richard, and very much appreciate the "free" firmware upgrade, as I too use CD player (CDX2) as transport into the DAC, as well as USB for hi-res files. One point to add in respect of using USB, is that it still appears to play FLAC files with gaps, (unlike WAV), which is frustrating, particularly on classical and live music, where gaps between tracks are not wanted. I queried this a while ago, and as I understand it this dates back to the original DAC design. Am I right in this respect, and any chance this will be rectified going forward?
Thanks
Paul
