Q. Has anyone at hoopla got even the most basic grasp of the fundamentals of human computer interface design?

A. Would appear not.

Initial impression is that this version looks and functions worse than before.

I'll sure I'll survive it.

It would be nice for once to see an upgrade that improved the user experience.

3 hours later, I've figured out how to post a reply. No more updates please: I'm too old to learn how to use a new interface...

Don't like it on first sight, I am still one of the old fashioned guys who like traditional UI design.

I am using a wide angle lens to view the posts and loose the wasted space.

I see that the new forum hasn't stopped the usual suspects from interpreting:

"What are you listening to and WHY might anyone be interested?"

to mean:

"Show off how many unannotated record cover images you can purposelessly, egregiously, uselessly, irritatingly and annoyingly rip off the internet and stick into a thread in as short a space as possible."

Shame.

What is it? What purpose does it serve?

+1 Rodwsmith  -  it amazes me how they can listen to a whole album in 5 minutes,  let alone post some thoughtful comments on the musical content.

Ha!  Does liking a comment replace typing +1, gosh I am down with the kids (if that is legal of course)

Still no "Padded Cell" option on the menu at the top of the page? Are they kidding? And way, way too much space around everything.

You have a like! But you don't know who gave it ya!

The nested quotes are at least easier to parse. The name of the person being quoted now at least is in the same box as what it is they are saying. The previous arrangement was bizzare.

Why does the "Post Reply" button look greyed out? It looks like it isn't available to click. But it is (obviously).

PLEASE DON'T "LIKE" a POST,  I've just got an e-mail for each one that has been liked & I can't see a way to turn it off.

Ha! Take that!!

Another gripe! Why are forum 'handles' all in uppercase, yet within dialogue shown correctly? My handle is hafler3o with an o not a zero or uppercase letters!

Posted on: 02 December 2015 by hafler3o

I just got 'liked'! This feels both discomforting and liberating, like wearing lycra shorts for 5-a-side football instead of aerobics

Yes, that's just stupid and pointless isn't it. Why would they spend the time to even do that? Are they really that thick?

Just trying the look of this ... not bad.

There really is a lot of wasted screen space here. Definitely liked the former compressed view.

The larger view of the avatar in the user's profile is nice. Just looking at Winky's dog. Nice shot in high resolution.

Downside is that the low resolution avatars are exposed.

On first glance I agree with Joe's asssessment...

Forum downgrade I call it.Early days for me but first impressions are they should have left well alone.People here didn't like the change to Hoopla but  I did warm to the Hoopla forum.

I haven't viewed the forum on my p.c yet but it looks so big on my  Samsung Galaxy tablet.Pink Fish Media and The Wam are way better in my opinion. What a waste of money.

I'll finally give up complaining. Last version was bad enough, this one well?

I will say "its big init? "

Looking at the forum on my desktop p.c and its hurting my eyes

TEST for font size

.............   caused by the DC component. This is more than compensated by various industrial processes, which for one reason or another manage to unbalance the mains supply sufficiently to cause problems. Most of the time, the DC offset is transient - it appears for a short while, then goes away again. When it is there, toroidal transformers may complain loudly, by making growling or buzzing noises. It is important to understand just how this happens, and what can be done about it..................
