For the benefit of anyone else who cannot find the search function, it is the magnifying glass in the top header bar.

I'm not seeing any icons in the top header bar in Safari...

If you press the three lines at top left, the drop down includes search.

Graeme, it's all there in Safari on my MBP. Are you using an iPad or something else? On the iPhone it's in the drop down from the three lines in the top left corner. I assume the iPad is the same.
