after 9 years the battery is going. Any bright ideas of what to replace it with at a sensible cost?
thanks
Hi SJW,
Replacement batteries are available over on that well known auction site.
I changed the battery on my Classic last year, and it was quite straightforward.
Regards,
Dave.
I attemtped to replace the battery in my iPod Classic and I managed to destroy the whole unit. Firstly, it was nearly impossible open up without bending the case.
Once in there, I somehow managed to move something that shouldn't have been moved and zillions of tiny pieces ejected themselves across the table, never to be replaced.
I wouldn't recommend DIY opening an iPod.
At nine years old, if you decide to have the battery replaced it would make sense to go ahead and do a recap while the case is open.
Take a look over on ifixit.
Best site for Apple parts and replacement guides. tools. etc.
Would check with your local apple store as they can offer advice on whether it is worth repairing as some spares are no longer available for the classic range they do offer an exchange allowance against a replacement device.
thanks for ideas .. in the end I've found a place in Brighton that will do it for £27 and because I fancied a treat at the end of the year ordered sony
aswell
which i can put micro cards in . I can't believe how cheap memory is now! My first 1GB card for my camera cost me £170. I did talk to apple but was only offered 10% off another iPod.
Quite a number of high resolution devices are of have come on the market. I am quite happy with my Sony NW-ZX2 which has recently also seen quite a price drop so should be available at a decent price. Other alternatives are coming from Onkyo, Pioneer... So just google high res audio mobile devices....
Another great sounding DAP with very good reviews is the Astell & kern JR.
