Digital cable options?

I may have an oppourtunity to try a Naim Dac with my HDX soon but I am not sure what is the best way to connect the HDX to the DAC.  Tried a search but not been able to answer this.

Can anyone offer any experience as to which type of connection/lead suits best to connect the two.  In the first instance, I will not have much of a budget for this cable, but if I get a budget cable in the meantime, is there a preferable type SPDIF, coaxial or optical etc?

I used a Belkin Toslink/optical cable for my set-up; as I was impatient waiting for my DC1.bnc . It work fairly well.

I would save for the DC1 interconnect though. Worth the price.

Coaxial and optical are both types of SPDIF.  Coaxial comes with 2 types of connectors; BNC (better) or Phono.  Coaxial is generally accepted to be better sounding, but optical has the advantage of electrically isolating the 2 bits of kit you're connecting - handy with computers.

See if you can pick up an Atlas Opus Coax for a bargain price.  Not sure if it's being replaced or something, but it was £200 and I got one for £59.  I could clearly tell the improvement over the QED reference coax I was using before.

Thanks Scot and DT79.

Gives me an idea what to look out for.
