Tidal not sounding right? Watermarking may be part of the reason.

Universal Music Group apparently uses watermarking in its streamed music (link below). I subscribe to Tidal in CD quality, but generally find it below that of a ripped CD, and ultimately tiring over long listening periods. Not sure how much of the music is Universal's though.

Jan, I believe I may have heard this on Tidal.. I have noticed a strange artificial tremolo effect on some tracks.. It was particularly noticeable  on strings, I kind of put it down to other issues.. but now I wonder if it's this water marking I am hearing. Now that I have read this, I suspect when I next notice this next time I will find it totally unacceptable ... Hmmmm

Oh, poor us... But is this a way to limiting piracy? I don't think is effective anyway.
